Summer Pet Bugs
Summer is here and if you have pets, it’s time to watch out for nasty bug bites or parasites burying themselves in their fur. Your pets get bug bites just as much as we do and creepy crawlies just love to nestle down in damp and often smelly fur to suck as much blood as possible from you animal, often carrying with them virus and decease.
In warm weather make sure your animals have water at all times. Place their water bowl in the shade and provide fresh, cool water frequently.
Groom your cat or dog in the shade using a good brush or comb to brush away any dirt, bugs or parasites where possible. Your dog might ventilate in warm weather, so it could be a good idea to turn on the hose and dowse them down with cooling water.
For older dogs or cats for that matter, make sure they have a shady place to relax. Pets with arthritis often don’t get around too much, so be extra careful to make sure you have the right medication from the vet – for example Rimadyl, which works in such a way that it reduces the hormones usually known to cause pain and inflammation in your pets body. It does call for a prescription from you vet, but could be helpful in relieving your dog from a lot of pain.
