Most car owners are looking for a good auto insurance deal, with the best coverage at the most advantageous price and there are several insurance cover policies worth looking into. With fuel prices sky-rocketing – who in their right mind doesn’t want the best value for money auto insurance policy available.
Using the internet to find and compare insurance prices in your part of the world is very easy and convenient.
Cars that are categorised as being more dangerous to drive i.e. convertibles and/or sport cars usually cost more to insure. Also if you live in a large city, chances are your car will be hit at one time or another, stolen or vandalized it’s logical that your insurance costs will most likely be higher.
Your age may also be a relevant factor i.e. if you’re for example over fifty-five years old and take a safety drivers course, you may qualify for a discount on your car insurance.
Liability is the lowest form of coverage. Liability is available through a split limit policy or a combined single limit policy. Liability insurance is the most expensive aspect of insurance. Liability is designed to protect you or another insured should your negligent driving cause injury to another person or damage to their property. Liability insurance pays for bodily injuries and property damage for which a driver covered by your policy is legally responsible.
Collision coverage pays for physical damage to your car as a result of your auto colliding with an object such as a tree or another car. This is relatively expensive coverage and is not required by law in some countries.
Comprehensive auto insurance coverage is for other types of damage to your car i.e. theft, fire and vandalism. While collision insurance will pay for the replacement or repair of the car in any kind of accident, comprehensive covers for natural disasters or theft. For newer cars, carrying the highest deductible you can afford will lower the premiums on these two.
Ask your agent about other ways to be rewarded for safe driving and vehicle protection (such as anti-theft devices). In addition, taking a driver-training or accident-prevention course may qualify you for additional discounts.
Before opting for an auto insurance company ask yourself “If my life or my car depended on my auto insurance, could I trust this company to come through for me? Then find one or two more you can say ‘yes’ to and compare before making your final decision.
